Since I have never watched the show “Buffy the vampire slayer,” I was not sure if I could get what the article is talking about, however, after reading the “Highschool is hell,” I followed what the article very well and she has done a great job to anaylize the show for people who don’t know. Obvioulsy, this is a perfect example for me to see what a research paper should be look like and what I should write about.
I think the most challenge part is to pick out a scene and find something that I will be interested in and also something is related to the real world. The author chose the “Metaphor” as her central topic for the research paper. She focused on how there appear to be more fear and threats in the society and how metaphor became a popular culture to address and response to the fears. I have to say it is a quite unique respect and would perfectly relate the show and the real world together. To write a unique and interesting topic is a very difficult process. It takes a lot of time to pick a short scene or even one minute scene from the whole show. I also have to be sensitive about what is worth writing and what has more to write about. As a matter of fact, every single scene has something that we could dig deep inside and discuss about it, but we usually focus on the main character only and neglect other characters or even objects around.
Well, it takes some time to develop the sensitive ability to choose a nice topic, however, watching more episodes will give me more background information and hopefully I could catch a moment to write about.
I agree with you completely. This article was very well written and a great example to go by; but I'm also worried about finding and selecting a good scene to expand on.
