In this episode of Dollhouse, Echo was assigned to get into a religious group and find out some criminal evidence. She was programmed as a blind believer and had the mini camera hidden in her brain to search the evidence.
As a matter of fact, I was amazed how people use all kinds of technologies and how well they handle them. They could easily wipe people’s memories off and make them become whoever they want, having all kind of personalities and skills. Now, Echo was made to be a blind person and have a camera stuck in her brain. Technology just makes all these things happen and make the dollhouse exist.
A lot of people say that technology is a double-edged sword, it could make life a lot more convenient and interesting while let some people take advantage of it and do bad things. I could not say the dollhouse has completely take advantage of the technology, but they have used it to expand their business and do something which goes against the human nature. Everything could be fixed or erased in their life, the memories, the strong bodies, etc. Anything that is precious and valuable enough for some people to spend their whole life to pursue it appears valueless for the dollhouse because it only takes them a minute or two to get that. I remembered Adelle always say that “dolls are not supposed to have feelings.” The technology makes the dolls lose the most precious thing in their life even though they are always stunning outside and own lot of things other girls would die for.
Technology has done a great job to develop our society. However, whether it is a good idea to use the advanced technology in to places like dollhouse still remains to be seen.
Technology is always a double edged sword. You can make atom bombs and use it for creating cheap energy
ReplyDeleteI don’t think that the Dollhouse has taken complete advantage of their technology either. There’s so much more stuff they could do with it to help society.
ReplyDeleteAs the world turns, technology will continue to expand and grasps people's minds.
